WhatsApp Confirms The Return Of Text Status To Android Next Week, iPhone Users Too Will Get It Soon
WhatsApp has been one of the biggest and most popular chat applications when it comes to the world of communication. The app has been used by billions of users from around the world. Facebook has introduced various upgrades on to the app over the years, and the latest WhatsApp Status feature revamped the works on WhatsApp. They removed the traditional WhatsApp text status updates and had introduced a feature where users will be able to share photos and videos similar to the Instagram Stories or Snapchat Stories.
Following much negative feedback from the users over the removal of the old Status feature, WhatsApp has decided to bring it back again. The old WhatsApp Text Status feature was first seen in the ‘About’ section on Android beta, and now the Facebook-owned WhatsApp has officially confirmed its return.
The Facebook-owned IM app told the TechCrunch that the old Status feature would be revived. In fact, all the WhatsApp users on Android platform on next week will get the feature, and iPhone users will also get it soon as well.

The company has issued a statement to the publication that quoted as follows “We heard from our users that people were missing the ability to set a persistent text-only update in their profile, so we have integrated this feature into the ‘About‘ section in the profile settings. Now, the update would appear next to the profile name at anytime you view contacts, such as when creating a new chat or looking at the Group info. At the same time, we were also continuing to build on the new Status feature that gives people fun and engaging ways to share the photos, videos, and GIFs with their friends and family throughout their day.”
The return of WhatsApp’s old Status feature will work just in the same way as it was seen on Android beta version 2.17.95. The users will be able to set a text WhatsApp Status in the ‘About’ section which will change only when you want it to be so. Your contact members would be able to see the Status message now by opening your contact while starting a new chat thread, or when viewing group info.
In any case, the new WhatsApp Status stories feature isn’t going anywhere and would remain constant in a separate tab. The tab will also list all the new updates from all your contacts in the same format as you see on the Snapchat. You could add photos and videos that will disappear in 24 hours, just like the Snapchat. Unfortunately, there’s no way yet found to disable this WhatsApp new stories like status feature completely.
