Google has recently released the Android O’s developer preview that revealed some new features of the upcoming operating system. And one of them being the self-disappearing notifications, which will self-dismiss after a period. With the new update, Google has planned to enhance the design of OS, its functionality and upgrading the notification centre. The new feature is dubbed to be the ‘notification timeout.’
The new feature will enable notifications to dismiss themselves automatically if the user hasn’t interacted with them in a certain amount of time. It should be quite useful when users receive notifications from games or alerts that are of little importance at a precise moment in time.

Developers would set the timeouts for the various notifications, and when the countdown ends, then the notifications will disappear from the screen. The new Android O update aims to bring the improvements to the battery life and also to add some interactive performance to the devices.
Google is testing a new System UI Tuner menu for its users to change the default lock screen shortcuts to an application or an activity of their choice. Android O aka Android 8 is likely expected to roll out this year with the Pixel smartphones and would be made available for other smartphones probably in 2018.
