Indian Railways launches Mobile Phone app for ticket booking; this makes rail passengers to get tickets in the unreserved and general category as the Indian Railways takes forward its action for paperless ticketing.
Railway Ministry Official stated,
“We have launched a mobile-based paperless unreserved ticketing application,”
Also, this paperless ticketing system as the app will save time for travellers as it allows them to avoid facing up at the ticket window.
Under southern railway zone, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu launched the mobile app for paperless unreserved ticketing for passengers in Egmore and Tambaram suburban sections in Chennai.
Developed by Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) “utsonmobile”, the paperless unreserved ticketing feature in mobile application purpose to eliminate the need for printing of unreserved tickets.
After launching, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu said,
“It was a budget proposal to provide paperless tickets in the unreserved segment and we implemented it today,”
The app can be downloaded from Google Play Store or Windows Store, which is for both Android and Windows Mobile-based platforms.
The application provides basic on-screen alerts to guide the passenger during the booking process. An App is not available for Blackberry users, and it will set soon in upcoming days.
