Nokia 3310 the Greatest Phone of All Time is Ready For a Comeback
The Nokia 3310 needs a microscopic introduction, as it was the popular phone in 2000’s. The Nokia 3310 is 17 years old as of now, and rumor has it HMD Global Oy (the company that owns the Nokia brand) is all set to re-release the phone before the end of the month at the Mobile World Congress conference. The event is scheduled to happen on February 26.
The 20th century was a shining period for the Nokia company. Nokia launched a steady string of successful handsets, and it dominated the mobile market for a while.
Throughout the 90’s and early 2000’s, Nokia lined up with straight forward cell phones which were loved by millions of people and made the Finnish telecoms company synonymous with class-leading mobile technology.
The first ‘smart’ phones were launched by Nokia in 1996 in the form of the 9000 communicator series that featured a data modem, internet access, email, and built-in QWERTY keyboard and large 640 x 200 resolution screen. After the success of 3210, Nokia started to create a device that gets phone lovers the world over misty eyed and named the device as 3310. This model phone was sleek, compact and had all the features of 3210, but in a smaller and lighter frame (133g vs. 153g), many improvements made in swappable front and rear panels, along with the internals and software enhancements.
Nokia 3310 was the first affordable mobile phone to come to market with a fully built-in internal antenna, and it featured usable SMS messaging with the beloved Snake game.
Nokia 3310 wasn’t the lightest phone but became well known for feeling distinctly solid. The phone measured 113 x 48 x 22 mm and weighed in at 133g. The design of the phone was simple but the built quality was nearly indestructible and the battery that lasted many days made the phone one of the most popular phones in the world in early 2000. The 900 NiMH battery had an official standby time of 260 hours.
Nokia sold over 126 million units of 3310 since its launch September 1st, 2000. This iconic handset is still having a hall of fame over the mobile phones.

However, Nokia 3310 is ready for a comeback it is not sure whether it will be an exact copy of the legendary device or will the similarity end with just the name. The company didn’t give out any specifications about the device but provided a specific price approximately Rs.4200. On considering the price which is similar to other smartphones, the company might introduce some modifications or just sell it as a limited edition item.
Along with the Nokia 3310, the company is looking forward revealing two mid to low-end Android smartphones Nokia 3 and Nokia 5.
Nokia 5 is rumored to come with low-end Snapdragon 430 chipsets with the 5.2-inch display at 720p, 2 GB of RAM, the camera will have a 12-megapixel sensor. HMD is planning to fix the price approximately Rs.14000. Nokia 3 will be an entry-level Android phone and initially priced approximately Rs.10500.
Nokia has been facing a tough time since the launch of smartphones in the market. The company failed to keep up competition from Android and iOS, it worked with its Symbian OS but failed. Nokia was then bought by Microsoft which also gave up on the brand after struggling with the Windows Lumia line-up.
The brand is finally making a comeback after many rounds of selling and purchasing. Nokia’s newest devices will now run on the Android operating system. However, if the company fails to impress the people, then it might end up losing its credibility in the massive flood of smartphone manufacturers from all over the world.
